Disciplinary Action
The following are the progressive steps the Wild Tigers Youth Football Organization has adopted for disciplinary action in the event that any athlete does not follow the code of conduct set force. He or she will be disciplined within the guidelines of the following standard disciplinary progressive steps and may include a physical agility workout session (PAWS). Examples of that may include but not limited to grassies, wind sprints, pushups, planks, burpees, or a combination of these or other workouts.
1. Verbal warning/counseling
The head coach or representative should meet with the athlete and bring attention to the behavior in question. The athlete should be provided guidance on expectations and the corrective action required. While this is a “verbal” warning, it should still be documented by the head coach or representative and signed by the athlete. Parent or guardian should also be advised of situation.
2. Written warning
This is a more formal event for addressing issues and behaviors. Generally, the representative set up a meeting that would include the head coach, a booster officer, and a parent or guardian of the athlete. In this meeting they will review the prior incident and previously agreed upon expectations. The additional incident(s) should be discussed and documented, and a formal performance improvement plan (PIP) implemented that is signed off on by the athlete and parent or guardian. It should be communicated to the athlete and parent or guardian that future instances will result in additional discipline, up to and including separation from the team.
3. Final warning and/or Suspension (if applicable)
Athletes are made aware that the pattern of behavior has continued, and any additional performance problems, poor behaviors or policy violations will not be tolerated. A Parent or guardian will be contacted, and a meeting will be requested. The disciplinary action paperwork should, again, include the athlete’s and parent’s or guardian’s signature as an acknowledgement. If immediate action is necessary to ensure the safety of team mates, coaches, or staff suspension may be necessary.
In the event that the athlete refuses to sign any warning and/or PIP (performance improvement plan), he or she will not be allowed to continue partaking in any events, games, or practices until he or she has signed the warning and/or PIP and satisfies any addition PAWS.
4. Separation from the team
An athlete maybe kicked off the team if he or she has become a habitual offender or behaves in a manner that warrants immediate removal. This decision will be made final by a vote from the head coach and at-least two booster officers with the input of witnesses and other coaches directly involved with the athlete. The athlete’s parent or guardian will be contacted at earliest convenience and be informed of the decision. If an athlete refuses to leave or becomes violent towards coaches, team mates, booster officers, or other individuals, law enforcement may need to be contacted for assistance.
If an athlete is kicked off the team he or she must return all equipment and uniforms back to the team as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in the team seeking legal assistance to recoup team property. Separation from the team may also result in the forfeiture of all end of year gifts.
